The repair costs depend on the scope of the work required and consist of labour costs and the necessary replacement parts. For a fault diagnosis, including a cost estimate we charge a flat fee of 60 €. If you then decide to proceed with the repair, this amount will be credited in full.
Our technicians' working time is billed in 6-minute units. One unit costs €4, which corresponds to an hourly wage of €40. In addition, there are costs for any spare parts that may be required and a flat rate of €10 for small materials (e.g. solder, cables, insulation, etc.).
After you contact us, we will first ask you to provide a brief description of the fault, i.e. to tell us which functions are affected or how the device is behaving. If you then decide to have the fault diagnosed, we will open the device, measure the relevant components and systematically check what is causing the defect. We will then provide you with a detailed cost estimate based on this information.
Once you have agreed to this, we will order the necessary spare parts (if not already available) and begin the repair. If further problems are discovered during the process or the scope of the repair proves to be greater than initially expected, we will inform you immediately. We will obtain your approval again if the estimated final price exceeds the cost estimate by more than 10%. This policy ensures that your order can be processed quickly and without unnecessary delays.
Once the repair has been completed, the device is thoroughly tested. You will then receive your device back along with an invoice containing a transparent list of all work carried out.
Whether a repair is worthwhile depends on several factors. In addition to the pure time or market value, emotional value also plays a major role for many hi-fi devices. Especially for classic or rare models, a repair or professional service is usually a good idea.
To get an idea of the value, it can be helpful to check online marketplaces such as Kleinanzeigen or eBay. If you find the same model there frequently and at prices below around 80 €, repair is often no longer economically advisable, provided there is no emotional value attached to the item.
During a repair, the specific defects identified are primarily rectified so that the device functions properly again. However, a service goes much further: In addition to rectifying all faults, all electrolytic capacitors are replaced (recapping), potentiometers and switches are opened and thoroughly cleaned, and all relevant components are readjusted. Finally, a comprehensive internal and external cleaning is carried out.
This returns the device to a state that is very close to its original delivery condition.
The duration of a repair or service depends on the scope of the work required. You will usually receive a cost estimate within one week. Once you have agreed to the estimate, the necessary spare parts will be ordered. Their delivery time is usually 1–2 weeks.
The actual repair then also takes around 1–2 weeks.
Overall, we strive to return your device to you within 2–4 weeks after placing your order.
We provide a two-year warranty for repairs. This warranty covers only the fault or faults repaired by us. If other faults unrelated to the original repair occur during this period, these will be charged separately.
For service orders, we offer a two-year warranty on the work performed during the service.
For an initial assessment, please contact us via our contact form.
Please enter the device type and, if available, the serial number so that we can clearly identify your device. A detailed description of the fault is also very helpful:
Are there any mechanical defects? Do you hear any noise or interruptions? Is it impossible to switch on the device?
The more detailed your information is, the better we can advise you in advance. We will then get back to you by telephone or email, depending on your preferred method of contact.
Of course, we provide a detailed cost estimate before every repair. This includes a precise description of the fault identified, the work likely to be required and a transparent list of costs.
A flat fee of €60 is charged for the fault diagnosis. This is followed by a free cost estimate. If you then decide to have the repair or service carried out, this amount will be credited in full.
If further defects are discovered during the repair or the scope of work expands so much that the final amount is likely to deviate by more than 10% from the original cost estimate, we will contact you in advance. This 10% limit enables us to carry out your order quickly and efficiently without unnecessary delays.
If you decide against a repair after receiving the cost estimate, a flat fee of €60 will be charged for the fault diagnosis. If you decide to go ahead with the repair, this fee will be deducted from the final cost.
We repair and maintain a wide range of hi-fi equipment. This includes amplifiers, speakers, turntables, tape decks, tape recorders, CD players, cables and connectors and many other audio components.
This is where our particular strength lies: thanks to years of experience in analogue audio technology, we have in-depth expertise in handling older, high-quality hi-fi equipment. These ‘classics’ include brands such as Marantz, McIntosh and Sansui. Of course, we repair equipment from all brands with the same reliability.
In principle, we can repair all devices. Thanks to rapid prototyping, we are even able to manufacture replacement parts ourselves that are no longer available for purchase.
It becomes more difficult with digital devices with defective microcontrollers or DSP chips that have protected programming code. In such cases, entire circuit boards often have to be replaced, which are either still available from the manufacturer or, if necessary, have to be salvaged from other devices.
Of course, we will discuss these individual cases with you in detail in advance in order to find the best possible solution.
Where original manufacturer parts have been used, we naturally use these for repairs as well. For components such as capacitors, resistors or other electronic components, hi-fi manufacturers draw on a wide range of suppliers. Here, we either use the same components or even higher-quality alternatives to ensure the quality and longevity of your device.
For spare parts that are no longer available, we use our rapid prototyping workshop with 3D printing and CNC milling to reproduce them quickly and in high quality.
To collect your device, we will arrange an appointment after you contact us via our contact form. We will then come to your location, bring the necessary materials for safe transport, and collect the device for fault diagnosis and cost estimation. You will, of course, receive a written, signed confirmation that we have collected your device.
Once the repair has been completed, we will contact you to arrange a date for return delivery.
If you would like to send your device to us by post, we will provide you with a padded shipping container in advance. This is made of sturdy plastic and lined with foam on the inside. You will also receive additional padding material and a return label.
Simply place your device in the shipping container, attach the return label and drop off the parcel at your DHL branch or have it collected by your parcel carrier.
Once the repair is complete, your device will be returned to you in the same shipping container. Returning the container to us is also easy using the return label – either by dropping it off at DHL or having it picked up by the parcel courier. If you decide against a repair after receiving the cost estimate, we unfortunately cannot cover the return shipping costs.
Unfortunately, there is currently no customer area available for the direct drop off of devices. Instead, we offer you a convenient on-site collection service or postal delivery.
Thanks to our excellently equipped rapid prototyping workshop with 3D printers, CNC milling machine and various development tools, as well as our many years of experience in the development of analogue audio technology, we are happy to create tailor-made solutions for individual projects.
Simply share your idea with us – confidentially, of course. We will discuss the nature and scope of the project together. To protect your developments, we will be happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) upon request.
We look forward to receiving your enquiry.
Please feel free to write to us using our contact form. We will then get back to you by telephone or email, depending on your preference. We look forward to hearing from you.
